Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Back is one of the best science fiction movies ever made. The movie has something for everyone, and can be re-watched over and over again. The acting is great and the story is compelling. The Star Wars universe is a great place to escape to, especially these days with the recession still hanging over people's heads.

The reason that it is one of the best science fiction movies made is because it takes the viewer on such a great journey. It starts out on the ice planet of Hoth, were the rebels, after blowing up the first Death Star, have had to run to hide for a while. The planet is barely inhabitable. Yet the rebels have taken refuge there thinking that the evil Empire will not be able to track them out there.

Of course, it wouldn't be much of a movie if they just hung out on some random planet the whole time, so they are found pretty quickly. The battle that ensures is a spectacular battle. The rebels are so over powered that there whole strategy is simply to try to keep the Empire out of the base long enough to evacuate it. The rebellion is still pretty small at this point, so running away is really the only answer. When the viewer sees how much of a ragtag group the rebels are and how hard they have to fight just to try to stay a step ahead of the Empire, it is easy to see that the rebellion is still just a pipe dream. At this point it seems like there is no way these people can win against such an overwhelming force.

They do escape, barely. Luke splits ways to go visit Yoda, who is supposed to train him in the ways of the force. This training with Yoda shows just how far away Luke is from being the hero that it seems he will eventually become. He is just a kid, trying to do something that is a lot bigger than him. And maybe, just maybe, he isn't really up to the challenge.

While Luke struggles with his destiny, the rest of the characters are on the run from the Empire more directly. They are stuck in an asteroid field, trying to evade a fleet of ships that has nothing better to do than spend however long it takes trying to take out Han and Leia and Chewie.

Eventually everyone makes it to Bespin. In this Cloud City Luke learns, in one of the most epic moments in movie history, that Darth Vader is his father. And even after that, even after all the fighting everyone has had to do in the movie, the only victory that the rebels really get is that most of them get away. Han doesn't make it out with them, after having been frozen and taken away by Boba Fett, but the rest of the characters do manage to make a break for it by the end.

This whole movie is really just about a small group of people that are on a run from an organization that they have no ability to fight head on. This is part of why the movie has had such a lasting impression. So many times in life there is really nothing that the common person can do but try to get away from the people who don't want them around. The only option left, sometimes, is to run away.

In the modern world we can see this happening from time to time. Smaller groups pull of a somewhat large military strike, and then immediately have to escape and evade, sometimes for years, as the people they just pissed off are coming after them. The stories that usually aren't told are the stories of the people who are on the run. There is great drama to be found in running away.

Amanda Seyfried arrived at the premiere wearing a dress from the Bodyamr Fall 2010 line. The purple and grey silk number made quite a statement. Perhaps this was because Seyfried appears to have worn the dress backward. The Bodyamr fashion show illustrated that the zipper should be displayed on the back, not front, of the dress. Whether you are in Sant Antoni or Santa Eularia, you can get a ferry to La Savina. During the summer there are many ports that have boats departing for Formentera, including Palma, Barcelona, Altea, Alicante, and Denia. And there is also a boat between La Savina and Espalmador.

When you are in La Savina you will find that there is a decent collection of restaurants, cafes and tapas bars. With a nice modern marina to look out on it's worth chilling here for a bit. Formentera's main resort of Es Pujols is where a through of people always head after arriving at La Savina. The warm, turquoise waters lap against white beaches and you can enjoy just about any water sport here, from diving to windsurfing. There is a local company Wet4Fun that rents equipment and gives lessons to beginners.

Es Pujols main high street is Passeig des Plameres, but it is the promenade behind the beach that is more of an attraction - Avenida Miramar has market stalls set up where aging hippies try to sell enough to get by for the rest of the year.

UFC 98 Review: Machida, Hughes Big Winners

When golf legend Jack Nicklaus was still a young upstart in the sport and only starting to tear up PGA courses, legend Bobby Jones commented following 'The Golden Bear's' 65 Masters win that "he plays a game with which I am not familiar". Following his absolute destruction of Rashad Evans in the main event of UFC 98, there's likely a few MMA fighters saying the same thing about the new light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida. Machida completely befuddled Evans en route to a 2nd round TKO victory after which 'The Dragon' looked as if hed barely worked up a sweat.

The fight started slowly, with each man trying to get a feel for his opponent and wait him out to see who blinked first. Evans, who prefers to counter punch, quickly began to become uncomfortable with facing an adversary who didn't come right at him. Late in the first round, Machida went on offense with frightening suddenness, flooring Evans with a nice straight right hand. Evans gamely tried to fight back, but a final right hand from the Shotokan Karate master left him out cold.

After the fight UFC announcer Joe Rogan proclaimed the start of the Machida era and this is not just mere hyperbole. Machida is unlike any fighter before him, rooted in mastery of traditional martial arts but with the versatility of a modern MMA competitor. He's essentially a Mortal Kombat character come to life--in a more realistic cross disciplinary comparison he shares many of the same characteristics as boxing great Floyd Mayweather, Jr. as he combines insane handspeed, underrated stopping power and nearly impenetrable defense into an unorthodox and extremely lethal package. Like Mayweather, hes a tough opponent to prepare for as there's simply no way to replicate his skill set in sparring. In another similarity with boxing's recent pound for pound king, Machida has been bred to fight since birth. His father is a first generation Japanese --Brazilian and a Shotokan Karate legend, Yoshizo Machida. He began training in his fathers discipline at the age of 3 and by the time he was 12 years old had earned a black belt.

The comparisons with the insanely talented but equally insanely arrogant Mayweather end when the final bell sounds. Outside of the cage, Machida is a modest and respectful gentleman who is quick to give credit to his father and his karate teachers for his MMA success. He spent most of his UFC 98 postfight interview not singing his own praises, but imploring others to strive to realize their dreams. In the past, his limited English was seen as a potential marketing liability here in the US but on this occasion he demonstrated vastly improved fluency in the language as a Portuguese translator stood by with his hands in his pockets. Almost overnight hes simply become a marketers dream.

An odd trivia note about Machida serves as further repudiation for MMA neophytes who think that the sports kinship with pro wrestling began with Brock Lesnar: Machida was discovered by Japanese wrestling legend Antonio Inoki, and became something of his protege. He trained for some time at the New Japan Pro Wrestling dojo in Tokyo.

Perhaps the most frightening thing about Machida is that hes only now reaching his full potential as an MMA fighter. In other words, hes only going to get better which is a scary prospect for opponents given the fact that hes never lost in MMA competition. Early in his UFC career he had a reputation as a boring fighter, but in his recent bouts hes shown a downright lethal ability to end fights. He stopped Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou at UFC 79 with an arm triangle choke, and blitzed Evans and previous foe Thiago Alves with punishing punching combinations en route to TKO victories. The so called boring fighter has in the process earned two UFC knockout of the night bonuses by virtue of his evolving power punching skills.

Machida will very likely face Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson in a future light heavyweight title defense and, with all due respect to the PRIDE/UFC veteran, its difficult to see him faring much differently than Evans did. One thing working in 'Rampage's' favor is his greater experience and a resume filled with high level opponents of various fighting styles. Still, everyone comes back to the fundamental reality that no one has ever really seen a fighter quite like Machida before.

In the co-main event of the evening, Matt Hughes defeated Matt Serra by unanimous decision to gain the upperhand in their long running feud. It was a surprisingly entertaining fight, with Serra taking the first round with his power punching before Hughes used his takedown and ground control abilities to win rounds two and three. The two men embraced after the fight so, for now at least, their well known dislike for one another that began during their stint as rival coaches on The Ultimate Fighter may have ebbed. After the fight, Hughes backed off his previous talk of retirement after this matchup and clearly indicated that hed like to keep competing in the UFC.

People who have attempted to read The Lord Of The Rings The Two Towers often find that it is not an easy book to get through. And yet, the movie version, released in 2002 and direct by Peter Jackson is an exciting and memorable movie that has received a lot of critical acclaim. The book is important but is often difficult for people to get through for a number of reasons. The plot tends to have patches of intense action which are interspersed through long periods of travel. Because of this, many people find that they tend to skip over the rich descriptions of the landscape through which the characters travel in order to concentrate on the action scenarios.

It is for this reason that the movie version, released in 2002 and directed by Peter Jackson, was excellent. Although there have been some criticisms about some of the plot choices that were made in the movie, on the whole it is an excellent film. Like the first movie, Jackson uses a combination of sets, special effects and make-up in order to recreate key locations such as King Theoden's hall in Rohan.

Many people miss the reference to the two towers. The first belongs to Saruman. He is a wizard who appears first in the Fellowship of the Ring. Although we are aware that he has sided with the enemy, the extent of his treachery becomes obvious as we see him creating fierce creatures known as Uruk-Hai in the caves below his tower. The second tower is that occupied by Sauron himself.

Finally, the story works well as a movie because it is easier to follow the travels of the different parts of the Fellowship. In the book, the companions split up at the end of the first movie. Boromir betrays the Fellowship by attempting to take the ring from Frodo by force. You understand why he does so after you meet the people of Gondor, including Boromir's brother Faramir and the corrupt and deranged Steward who has cracked under the pressure of living next to Mordor.

This story allows us to find out more about the main characters and the reasons that they behave the way they do. We learn more about Aragorn and are introduced to characters such as Eowyn, one of the Rohirrim who plays a pivotal role in the third book. We learn more about why Boromir would be so desperate to possess the ring that he would have taken it from Frodo by force.

If you are someone who loves action, this book is filled with some of the most incredible scenes of any in fantasy literature. The main battle is that of Helm's Deep, where humans hole up and are besieged by Orcs, Goblins and Uruk-hai.

Both the movie and the book have an important role to play in the overall trilogy. Peter Jackson's version keeps the viewer riveted and the visual scenes of travelling keep the interest level up more than the book tends to do.

The company is not shy about expressing their feelings on the matter, and many of them feel like it is a lost cause and they are a bit bitter concerning he gets a free ticket home.

You get to know each and every one of the men in the company through various conversations that they have about their lives before the war, and their plans for when the war is finally over. When they reach Ryan and deliver the news, he still insists he remains at his post long enough to hold a key bridge in Allied control. He refuses to leave the company that he is with until he knows this key bridge is secure and not able to be used by the Germans.

This is an accurate depiction of all of the emotions and feelings that are relative to being at war. You are crying when the men are crying, you are scared when they are, and you celebrate when they do. This is an instant classic that everyone should see if they get a chance to, if nothing else for the incredible performances by Matt Damon (Ryan), Tom Hanks (Miller) and Tom Sizemore (Sgt. Mike Horvath).

UFC 94 Flashback: GSP, Machida Gain Victories

Reigning lightweight champ BJ Penn entered his main event battle against welterweight kingpin Georges St. Pierre looking to become the first man in UFC history to simultaneously hold titles in two weight classes. GSP never gave him the chance to make history, as he stopped Penn after four increasingly dominant rounds to retain his belt with a TKO victory and make a compelling case for being the pound for pound best fighter in mixed martial arts.

Both fighters had considerable fan support, with vocal, flag waving delegations from the Hawaiian Islands and Canada in evidence. During ring introductions, both men received enthusiastic cheers tempered with a few boos. After the opening horn sounded, however, the Penn backers had little to cheer about while the champions supports broke out in G-S-P chants on several occasions.

Boxing guru Freddy Roach recently praised Penn as the best technical puncher in MMA, but he had no opportunity to bring this weapon to bear as he had trouble finding the range from the outset. GSP mixed up his look perfectly, either staying just outside Penns range using his 6 reach advantage effectively or more often smothering his opponent on takedown attempts. St. Pierre was unable to complete any takedowns during the first round, but easily dictated the pace and style of the bout.

GSP began to assert his dominance in round two"with Penn starting to fatigue he was no longer able to fend off St. Pierres single leg takedown attempts by balancing on one leg. GSP got a takedown early in the frame and began to mount a ground and pound assault while moving around in Penns legendary guard almost at will moving from half guard to side control with frightening ease. At this point, it was apparent that GSPs superior strength and insane physical conditioning were going to figure prominently in the outcome of the fight.

The eventual outcome was foretold between rounds two and three, as the obviously exhausted Penn required a pep talk from his entourage that his fatigue was all in his head. Across the cage, GSP calmly sipped water looking for all the world that he could go 12 rounds.

Round three was similar to the previous one, with GSP taking his opponent to the mat with a decreasing level of resistance and mauling him with punches and elbows once he got there. His complete control over the BJJ black belt Penn was incredible, but hardly surprising given the way that GSP dominated four time NCAA All American wrestler Josh Koscheck on the ground during their matchup. That may be the most exceptional thing about Georges St. Pierre"his willingness to attack his opponents strengths and success at doing so.

The fourth round was a wall to wall rout for the welterweight champion, who started by effectively trading strikes with Penn before taking him down once again and resuming his highly successful ground based attack. At this point with GSP moving around at ease and Penn mounting little resistance it was apparent that the challenger was physically spent. St. Pierre almost ended the fight on the ground, as referee Herb Dean repeatedly reminding Penn that he needs to fight back. Penn survived the round on instinct alone, moving around just enough to keep the referee from stopping the proceedings. After the horn sounded to end the fourth round, however, it was evident that Penn had nothing physically or emotionally left and the fight was stopped by Dean on advice from the ringside physician.

Displaying his characteristic class, GSP delayed his celebration until he had crossed the cage and kneeled by his vanquished foe to honor his competitive spirit. After a quick celebration among GSP and his team, he faced his next challenger in the person of Thiago Alves.

In the co-feature attraction, Lyoto Machida kept his undefeated professional MMA record intact with a first round TKO victory over Thiago Silva. Silva had no answer for Machidas well rounded skills and unorthodox Shotokan karate based style. Machida took his opponent down and knocked his opponent down twice"all counters as Silva was coming forward and Machida backing away. As the first round entered its final seconds, it appeared that Silva started to ease up in anticipation of the horn. Machida used this opportunity for another takedown, and then nailed his surprised opponent with a powerful punch that ended the fight.

Some of the scariest movies released over the past few decades are Friday the 13th, A Nightmare On Elm Street and Halloween. Most popular movies don't go past a trilogy but these three went on and on multiple times over many years, thanks to their popularity in the theaters. While they're not the most intelligently written movies, their longevity is due in part to people's lust for being scared and watching gore on the screen. They are all murderers who never seem to die, or if they do, they manage to come back to life again.

Michael Myers first debuted in Halloween in 1978 and the story continued for 9 more sequels. His character is synonymous with evil, having filled the role of mass murderer in all 10 movies. His face is hidden by a scarred mask throughout all the films and his real face is never revealed. His first murder was his sister. 15 years later, he returns to kill the neighborhood teenagers. As the title suggests, he kills on Halloween and blends right in with the trick-or-treaters who are also donning masks.

Out of all three characters, the only one with speaking lines is Freddy Krueger, the slasher of A Nightmare on Elm Street. He's an ugly, bald, disfigured character who'd been badly burned. His head is covered with a fedora and he wears a hand of long, razor fingers which he uses to kill his victims. Unlike the other two murderers, Freddy does his killing while his victims are dreaming. While they sleep, he hunts them down in their nightmares and is equipped with superpowers. During the day, he only has normal human abilities. To live, his victims must try not to fall asleep.

Jason Voorhees is the killer who has outlasted them all. He's died and come back to life through 13 Friday the 13th movies. He's quite scary despite the seemingly innocent hockey mask he wears to hide his dead looking face. The movie series began at the camp where his mother was the cook. She kills the counselors who she blames for her son's death. When she is decapitated, Jason returns from the dead to avenge his mother's death. He "speaks" to her while she lies in her bed and continues to boss him around and drive him to kill.

Few horror films have endured the test of time like these three have. Their villains are so horrifying, it's hard to come up with a scarier character. They all kill in a bloody, vulgar manner which makes for good entertainment for movie goers. They're also great date movies, since the girl gets scared and has to hold on to her boyfriend.

Many different actors have played the parts of Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees. Given that all of their faces are hidden by masks, they are easy to replace with a new actor. Every year, you'll see a few of their costumes among the trick-or-treaters.

Fight Club Can Be Found On Movie Downloads

Have you seen Fight Club yet? Most everyone has, but a few viewers have actually somehow managed to miss this movie. Of course, it wasn't just a movie, it was also something of a cultural event. Love it or hate it, you have to respect that it was one of the most influential films of the last twenty years, at least deserving as much respect as Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction or Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas. It was the movie that ended the nineties as those two movies began the era, and certainly one of the must download movies of the decade.

The story follows an unnamed narrator portrayed by Ed Norton. There's a lot of "Office Space" type humor as he disparages his corporate white collar job, but there's an ugliness to it here, a darkness not present in Office Space. The movie is very deep and brooding and twisted, while at the same time sarcastic and nonchalant about the whole thing.

The movie really picks up when the Narrator meets Tyler Durden, a man who has no regard for the rules of normal society. He's sort of like Cosmo Kramer with a copy of The Stranger and a sense of testosterone driven anger. He's scary, funny, and sort of inspiring. Definitely a man with ideas. Not all of them good, but at least he's got ideas.

Tyler Durden is really the heart of the film in.. Many more ways than one. He and the narrator together found the Fight Club, which begins as simply a place where lonely white collar men can fight so as to reaffirm their manhood, but soon grows into something deeper, more frightening, and which has a much greater impact in the grand scheme of things.

The way it grows is fascinating to watch. You can see that, while some parts of the film are outlandish, the suggestion that this sort of a concept would catch on is probably entirely believable and plausible. It hasn't yet, but the impotent rage hiding in many men still has the potential to become potent. It's frightening to think about, but sooner or later, something's got to give.

The finale, the way the movie ties everything together, it's very interesting. It's kind of frightening, it's exciting, and it's kind of funny. In the end, all of the details about Durden and the Narrator are, if not quite solved, at least developed into something you'll enjoy thinking about.

In the years since Fight Club, Ed Norton has become... Well he can be predictable. You always know exactly how he's going to act from minute to minute. There's something to be said for action flicks, especially when they're as well crafted as The Road Warrior. This film was what really got Mel Gibson started on a global level. Mad Max saw him explode in the US, but since the film hadn't been released in the US yet, or throughout much of the rest of the world, it was The Road Warrior that made him a household name. It's definitely one of the must download movies of all time.

There really aren't many movies out there that work so perfectly on so many levels. In the pantheon of action films, it's comparable to Robocop, and not much else. It's very strong, full of drama, action and, at times, humor and even tragedy.

You know all about the movie, but it's worth a recap: The film takes place in a post apocalyptic Australian Outback where gas and water are both scarce. Mel Gibson plays Mad Max Rockatansky. He was a cop before the world fell apart, and now simply drifts from here to there, hoping to collect enough gas, food and water to stay alive from day to day.

Throughout his trials in the previous film, Max became just as much of a ruthless beast as the criminals he'd been chasing. Here, he's offered a chance at redemption, at becoming a part of society, or what is left of it, once more.

The movie is essentially one long chase scene, stopping here and there just long enough to give us a breather and some more character and story development. Of course, the majority of character and story is developed through the action, which is how it's supposed to be. Too often, action is only thrown in to get in the way of the story and put the viewer's brain on pause. Here, the action IS the story, just as it was in the days of the old westerns.

The movie really comes down to the nature of heroism and righteousness. George Miller, the film's director, went into the Joseph Campbell mythology to develop the story for the film, and it paid off. The movie feels timeless, an instant classic. It will inspire you, and there's a reason that many Australians consider it to be "their Star Wars".

It will likely go down as one of the great westerns and western influenced films. It should stand alongside Stagecoach in that regard, in that it really is just great action and physical heroism from beginning to end.

The atmosphere and soundtrack are largely glitzy and fast paced, so the more laid back, gritty sound of Cooder's slide guitar adds a certain contrast that really helps both sides of the soundtrack compliment each other.

Streets of Fire makes an excellent double feature with The Warriors. Both take place in fantasy environments based on the "rough streets" setting, with street gangs, Rock and Roll, rainy streets and rumbles. The difference between the two films is that, while Streets of Fire takes that concept in a glitzy, colorful direction, The Warriors goes in more of a gritty, tough direction. There was to be a pair of sequels to the film, but, sadly, they never panned out, as Streets of Fire didn't exactly set the box office on fire. With the good grace of her father Wilbur, Tracy finally gets permission to go on to the dance audition. During the audition, she meets with, and falls in love with a boy name Link Larkin. While attending, Tracy shows off some of the amazing moves that she has learned, but it is not just those from her school who are watching, but the owner of the T.V. show that is featuring the big dance contest, the owner happens to catch Tracy's moves and is impressed, he then invites her to be on the show. Tracy gets more good news, Link Larkin is to sing a romantic song to her. Another character, Amber, who is the snobby pretty girl is quite upset. At school Amber does some mean things to Tracy which includes whacking her head with a volleyball and knocking Tracy out.

As we continue with the play, Tracy is invited to record shop that Seaweed's mother owns, all during the play, Tracy continues to grow close to Seaweed, and is upset to find out that the show that she is about to go on, only allows black people to attend their shows once a month, on "Negro Day" because of this Tracy finds herself fighting for black rights, and helping her best friend, the ending of Hairspray the musical is sure to please, but you will have to attend to find out.

So last night I had resigned myself to a lazy night of watching TV. The weather wasn't so hot, and I couldn't find anybody that wanted to do anything. Kind of like a skilled comedian will leave a crowd hanging for a while, and then deliver the punch line just at the right time.

Then he did these weird drawing tricks. He asked people to name random animals, and shapes. He made sure that everybody know that they were not plants or ringers, that they were normal audience people. Then he pulled out this picture that had all the animals and shapes that people had chosen. I'm sure he was using some kind of hypnosis.

After that he started doing these wild psychic tricks. He pretended that he was a professional psychic, but he actually guessed people's names and birthdays and all kinds of other secret stuff perfectly. People were really amazed at his abilities.

Just when we thought he had reached his limit, he asked some people to come on stage. He did this really cool hypnosis, where he hypnotized people into guessing the birthdays of strangers. It was the most bizarre thing I've ever seen.

War Film Classic Review: Paths Of Glory

In 1957, Stanley Kubrick directed a movie that would change the face of war as no one had seen before on the silver screen. Inspired to bring the novel by Humphrey Cobb he read in his school days to life in live action, Kubrick embarked on a journey to reveal the seedy underbelly of war that few people dare to think about. Paths of Glory sparked much controversy across the nation, and even in other countries, temporarily hindering the careers of Kubrick and the lead actors involved. However, when this taboo lifted, it only revealed the truth and irony of the film's message.

The plot begins with a proposed addition of another star to a general's rank, and a suicidal plan for attack against the Germans to attempt to please the public. Without regard to practicality, the French General Staff orders an attack on a highly fortified area to boost public morale after a long stalemate with the enemy. Their brash decision puts a weakened and worn-torn regiment at risk with no back up, and no time to prepare. And so begins a recipe for disaster.

The film takes a subtle, and realistic by today's standards, approach to the telling of a war story. The characters drive the plot forward without prompt from the external enemy, but rather from the inhumane judgments and justifications of their own seats of power. A depth exists in every private, general, and rank in between, along with the interactions between them. This is why the movie is a popular choice for teachers to assign their students to analyze and write about it for critical thinking.

The plight of Colonel Dax to defend the lives, honor, and rights of his troops is among the most heroic ventures a character can take. When the attack fails, as the Colonel and every soldier involved predicts, the General points to the troops themselves as the cause for their acts of cowardice. With the random assignment of three soldiers to take the fall for the entire regiment, the main hook of the story begins, and a court hearing begins to decide their fate.

Though black and white footage may simply appear to be a technical limitation of the past to many who see an older film, it is still a respected medium for its drama and contrasting power. The emotional pull of the scenes in Paths of Glory are masterfully integrated with the lighting, darkness playing into the emotion of fear and anger, patchy light mixed with dark to portray doubt and suspense, and bright white to reveal the overly clean and opulent.

One of the only noticeable flaws a person of today may find curious about the film is an artifact from the times and the limits with which movie makers were faced. Jacksonville Beats St. Louis In Overtime

Despite dominating the winless St. Louis Ram on the stat sheet, the Jacksonville Jaguars needed overtime to eke out a 23-20 home field victory over arguably the worst team in the NFL. Based on their statistical superiority, the Jags should have made mincemeat out of the hapless Rams-they had 33 first downs to 13 for St. Louis, held a 492-262 overall yardage edge and had possession of the ball for 42:12 compared to 24:48 for the Rams. They did have three turnovers to only one for St. Louis, including an interception that was returned for a touchdown. Jacksonville evened their record at 3-3 while the Rams dropped to 0-6.

Those who bet on NFL football would argue, however, that while Jacksonville may have 'won the battle' the Rams won the financial 'war' as St. Louis easily covered as +9' road underdogs. It was only the Rams second NFL pointspread cover of the season (2-4 ATS) while Jacksonville evened their record against the money at 3-3. The 43 points put on the board just managed to go OVER the posted total of 42. Jacksonville has now gone OVER in four of six games, while St. Louis evened their NFL totals record at 3-3.

The catalyst behind the Jags offense was running back Marcus Jones-Drew who churned out 133 yards and three touchdowns. He'd gone public the week before saying that the Jags needed to run more and he explained the motives behind the comments after the game:

It's so simple, the graphics are basic, the gameplay is basic, yet even though I've completed it several times I still get the urge to go back and play it again! (Luckily there are several sequels to keep my happy!) You're a monkey, with darts ;) Well, that's a pretty good start isn't it! So, the idea is simply to throw your darts and burst all the balloons on the level. You need to burst a specific percentage to proceed, and there are 50 well designed levels in total.

Each level gives you a set number of darts, and you'll encounter obstacles and special balloons types along the way, but you'll also pick up special darts and powerups to help you in your quest. Bloons is a great game, but the best thing is that there are a number of great sequels, many of which are just as good as the original.

3. Grow Cube. Now this is a strange game, but one that had to be on the list none the less. It doesn't fit easily into any of the usual categories, but I guess it's a puzzle game. The idea is to grow the "cube" by pressing the ten buttons in the right order, which makes all sorts of things happen depending on your previous inputs.

Now if that doesn't sound like much of a game, that's only because you really need to play this game to understand it. It's the intricate and funny animations caused by the player's inputs which make the game so fascinating to play and watch. Get the order wrong and there will be terrible consequences, but get it right and you'll be rewarded by watching all sorts of things happen in a clever sequence. It's impossible to get across the beauty of this game in words, so go and play the game and I'm sure you'll agree with me that its place on this list is well deserved!

Bobby Lashley Seeks To Combine Pro Wrestling And MMA

On July 15th, former WWE superstar turned MMA fighter Bobby Lashley announced that he had signed a deal to return to full time professional wrestling competition with the US #2 promotion TNA. Lashley's last in-ring pro wrestling appearance came in Mexico on a show for Lucha Libre promotion AAA.

Hes not planning to give up his MMA career. Lashley trains in Florida with the prestigious American Top Team, and ran his record to 4-0 with his victory over Sapp in late June. A press release issued by TNA this morning further validated his suggestions that he planned to do both sports. Lashey himself is quoted as saying:

I want to do both because I can. TNA is giving me the opportunity to compete in both sports which I have a passion for. I will bring MMA fans to wrestling and wrestling fans to MMA

TNA President Dixie Carter also praised Lashley in announcing the signing:

This is a great opportunity for Bobby to do something that has never been done before. He is the perfect ambassador for both sports. We are excited to have him join TNA, he is a true star that brings so much to the table as a member of our roster.

Despite TNAs claims that Lashley is the first active MMA fighter to compete full time in pro wrestling, that's not the case. Its very common in Japan, where fighters frequently compete in shoot fights like MMA while simultaneously appearing in worked (eg: pre-determined) pro wrestling contests. In fact, Josh Barnett, originally slated to face Fedor Emelianenko at the ill fated Affliction: Trilogy event still makes several appearances a year for Antonio Inokis Inoki Genome Federation (IGF) promotion. Following his positive drug test in California, he may spend ore time in pro wrestling. Lashley isn't even the first to pull the feat in the US, though hes definitely the highest profile fighter/wrester to turn the trick since MMAs overwhelming boom in popularity. Dan The Beast Severn at one point simultaneously held the UFC heavyweight title and the NWA heavyweight title in pro wrestling.

Lashley's departure from the WWE in early 2008 was very sudden and remains largely unexplained. He indicated at the time that his departure was not of his own volition but due to circumstances beyond his control. Interestingly, Lashley wasnt subject to a standard non-compete agreement. Speculation at this point suggested that he may have left in response to a racial incident, a theory given more validity when WWE writer (and former member of the Fabulous Freebirds tag team) Michael Hayes was suspended for a racial slur. Neither Lashley nor the WWE has ever confirmed the reason for his departure.

At the time he was released from the WWE, Lashley began training for MMA building on an extensive background of amateur wrestling from both college and the military. The UFC took a pass on Lashley due to the perception that they couldnt market him successfully so soon after Brock Lesnars debut. Lashley certainly has the physical gifts to compete at the highest level in MMA at 63 and 250 lbs. Some even suggest that he may have more potential than Lesnar due to a possible edge in speed and agility. Lesnars recent unification of the UFC heavyweight title and amazing surge in mainstream popularity may give the promotion reason to take a second look at Lashley"they need credible opponents for their new heavyweight champion, but have to be careful not to put him in a position where his inexperience in certain components of MMA wont be exploited lest they kill the proverbial golden goose.

I just recently saw the fantastic and newest rendition of Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. To saw I was surprised beyond belief would be an understatement. I enjoyed this movie on many levels. The dialogue was superb, the acting was surprisingly good, and the story kept me on the edge of my seat up the final scene. If you haven't seen it, then I highly recommend that you do. Be careful, as this article may contain spoilers.

The movie begins with Holmes and his dependable associate stopping a unspeakable slaying from taking place. We gather that the murderer has been wanted for a while, and thanks to Holmes and Watson, the police at last have him in custody. We also learn that this is to be Watson's last case with Holmes, as he is betrothed to be married. Of course, we will need to follow through with the killers putting to death, but not before he calls Holmes to his jail cell to give him a distressing prediction. The killings have only just begun.

After he is hanged, Holmes and Watson split their separate ways. However, the next day, the killer's cadaver, the man who was apparently hanged the day before, and indeed verified deceased by Dr. Watson himself, has in some way cracked out of his tomb, and is at large once again. And just as he predicted, the killings have started again.

Holmes follows the path to a enigmatic religious group, that currently being led by the killer's father. The cult hires Holmes to find the killer, as he has some secret magic learned from the sect, and they do not suppose he can be prohibited. Holmes accepts the contest, but for his own reasons.

The murderer returns to the clandestine cult, and begins killing those that disagree with his rise to authority. He uses an assortment of methods of killing, and leaves more than a few clues for Holmes to follow. Holmes and Watson, who has been forced back to Holmes' side seemingly in contradiction of his will, uncover the diabolical plot of the new cult, now led by the seemingly back from the dead murderer.

Holmes and Watson must hurry against time to keep the killer from carrying out his final homicidal coup on the British Parliament. His diabolical plans extend far beyond taking over the mystifying sect. He wants to take over Britain, and then the world. The concluding mystery is exposed when Holmes faces the killer, and reveals all his info. Many folks are seeing this movie twice and even three times to pick up these intriguing clues that are presumably dropped all through this powerful tale. If you haven't seen it, you should. With the Blazers fans staying away from the arena in droves, owner Paul Allen finally had enough and cleaned house. The acquisition of Roy will likely be looked at as the turning point for this effort. The Blazers acquired Roy on draft day 2006 for Randy Foye, and would go on to win the NBAs rookie of the year award.

The Blazers"who were 21-61 the year before Roy arrived"posted a 54-28 record last season. Roy has become the centerpiece of a talented young team had has not only become a force in the NBAs Western Conference but has gone a long way to winning back the Portland fan base.

Roy will earn $4 million dollars in the last year of his rookie season, after which his five year $82 million dollar contract will kick in. The first four years are guaranteed, while the fifth is at the players option. Roys agent Bob Myers strongly suggested that Roy wanted to remain with the Blazers for his entire career, noting that he "is one of the unique players to have a chance to have that sort of relationship with one team."

The team will now turn its attention to signing a long term deal with forward LaMarcus Aldridge. Aldridge is also in the final year of his rookie contract and a key component to the teams recent success. At last report, talks between the two sides are progressing.

Of course once you reach the stage where you're aware of the fact that a certain memory is from a past life, and that it doesn't necessarily mean you're a bad person, you can then live happily in the knowledge that this life can be great.

This is a great up close card trick that is perfect for any audience. It requires some practice, and a little bit of preparation, but once you know how to do it, it's pretty simple. Of course, because it requires some set up, you can only perform this once. So it helps if you have a few other card tricks up your sleeve, so to speak. This works especially well for kids, both to perform for and to teach, as it doesn't require any difficult sleight of hand maneuvers.

This is how the caper will look to your amazed audience. You take three Aces: Spades, Clubs, and Diamonds. You spread them out, holding them to the audience. Then you set them on top of the deck, and rearrange and cut the deck a number of times, ensuring that they have been uniformly dispersed.

You then ask a helper to come up and search for the Ace of Diamonds. They will look in vain, as they won't be able to come across it. If you like, you can get an additional audience member to come up and search, but they too will be ineffective. Then you pull the Ace of Diamonds out of your shirt pocket. (Or your back pocket, or shoe, or wherever.)

Here's how to set the trick up. First discover all the Aces. Then put the Ace of Diamonds in your pocket (or shoe or wherever) beforehand. Then rest the other Aces on top of the deck. When you drag the three Aces off the top, and fan them out, make sure to hold the Ace of Hearts in the middle. If you place both other cards on either side of the Ace of Hearts, it will look like the Ace of Diamonds to the audience.

How you utterance this is important. If you bring up beforehand that you are going to make the Ace of Diamonds fade away, they will be looking much more closely. I have been active in the Motorcycle Community for many years. I've stood up for Biker's Rights. As a freelance writer, I've written about Clubs, the Community, and the Brotherhood of the Biker World. I've also been involved in many Biker related events either as a DJ or MC.

For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to combine all of this into a Biker Style Radio Show. A show where I could present and discuss topics that are important to Bikers as well as educate the outside world about the Biker Lifestyle and what it means to be a part of the Biker Community.

I knew it was going to be tough. I spoke with some local radio stations about my idea but, they either wanted a lot of money or they weren't interested. They claim that the "Biker Market" is a niche market and Radio Stations want shows that appeal to everyone.

In the summer of 2008, a guy from Florida called the Paisan, sent me an email stating he had read some of my articles and would like to interview me on his internet radio show, Sunday's Sauce Pot. I gave him a call and after speaking to him, I agreed to be on the show.

I did the show with Paisan and his partner Danny Dawg. It was an unforgettable show and I had a great time. I kept in touch with them and we soon became friends. I told them how I had been thinking about doing my own show. They were only too happy to explain to me how I could have my own internet radio show.

Since the show would be broadcast over the internet, I was a little skeptical. After doing some research, I realized that Internet Radio is an up and coming medium. Even now, some radio manufactures are making radios devoted to broadcasting Internet Radio.

I quickly realized that Internet Radio is more suited to what I wanted to present than traditional Radio due to the fact that I could broadcast my show to all over the world instead of being limited like I would be if I broadcast out of a local station.

The other thing that appealed to me was the fact that people could listen to my show any time they wanted to. Bikers like to travel. With Internet Radio, it doesn't matter where you are as long as you have access to an Internet Radio or Computer and WI-FI or broadband, you can catch the show. The fact that you didn't need a lot of money to start up was also very appealing. With a little help from my friends, I went to work. Finally, after 10 years of dreaming, I was On the Air. The Biker Lowdown Show was born.

The road to success was a little bumpy at first. With the addition of Chuck (Alphabiker.com) as my co-host, the road got a little smoother. With both of us researching information, we are able to share much more with our ever increasing audience. The addition of a website to compliment the show adds to the experience. The hard work of my webmaster Bjorn has resulted in a website that offers Articles, Video's, a Motorcycle Forum, and more.

I am sometimes amazed by the success of the show. Our Audience continues to increase each week. The Biker Lowdown Chat Room gets busier each week, letting listeners know they are really part of the show. Although we've come a long way, we're still working hard at making the show even more entertaining and informative for all those who ride or dream of riding. We plan on hitting the road so that we can meet and talk with people and reward our listeners with T-Shirts, Bumper Stickers, and more.

Chiefs' Cassel May Not Be Ready For NFL Opening Game

The bad news is that they still don't know when hell be able to play. Matt Cassel returned to the Chiefs practice field on Monday for the first time since he injured his left knee in a NFL preseason game on August 29th. Still, there's been no confirmation from either he or the team as to when hell return to action. It would be an ironic twist if Cassel lost significant time due to injury, as it was a knee injury to Tom Brady while in New England that first brought him mainstream attention

Cassel, who saw his stock shoot up precipitously as an NFL QB following his solid play in New England after starter Tom Brady went down to a season ending injury, signed a six year, $28 million contract with the Chiefs in the off season. Although Cassel participated in Monday's practice albeit on a limited basis, head coach Todd Haley was noncommittal about whether he or Brodie Croyle would start Sundays NFL regular season opener on the road against the Baltimore Ravens:

"I think that as the week goes on, we'll know a little bit more. We'll know a little bit more with Matt for sure. But it was good that he was out there. He was able to get through some things. As the week goes on a little further, we'll know a little more as far as where he's at."

"It's good this is a long week. That will help with anybody who's nicked up. I would say generally you would need to have a full practice to have a chance to play. Generally, you need to have a full Friday practice to have a chance."

With or without Cassel, the Chiefs offense sputtered in the preseason scoring only two touchdowns. The lack of productivity cost offensive coordinator Chan Gailey his job and Kansas City stumbled to a 0-4 record in their NFL exhibition contests. This is a great up close impromptu magic trick that will fool almost anybody. It doesn't require any special props, and you can do it anywhere. It works great as a standalone trick, or with a set of other tricks. If you are bold enough, you can even do this with strangers on the street, as this is a perfect illusion for street magic.

This is how it looks to your audience. You walk up to them on the street, or to your friend, and say that something is wrong with your watch. Lately you've noticed that timepieces that you touch immediately go crazy, and lose their ability to keep proper time. You ask to borrow their watch, so you can set yours. They'll think you're joking, and won't think too much of it.

At the same time you set your watch, get them to double check the correct time. They will, usually by looking at a clock on the wall or by checking with somebody else. You make sure they watch you set your watch, to ensure you've got the right time. Thank them, give them back their watch, but confess that you think your strange aura has broken it's time keeping capabilities. You tell them to sandwich it between their hands, without looking at the face, and tell them to guess how far off their watch is from the correct time. Most people will guess five minutes or so, which means they'll be shocked to see their watch is off by around thirty minutes.

Here's the trick. First you need to choose somebody who's watch has a large stem that is easy to turn. You hold their watch in your left hand, and you're watch in your right. While you are focusing on setting your own watch, while they are concentrating on your watch, you quickly move their watch out of view and re-set the time. You can quickly do this when they look away to verify the correct time.

This illusion is heavily based on misdirection, and the skill of quickly changing the time on their watch with only your left hand. So of course you'll need some practice. You can easily practice on your own watch, if it has a big stem, while you are sitting around watching TV.

The best way to apply the misdirection is just to play dumb, as if you really have no idea what is going on. Begin the illusion as if you are genuinely asking them for the time, but concerned that you have a strange effect on time pieces. If you say at the beginning that you are going to magically change the time on their watch, they'll obviously watch you much more closely. For starters, there's the electronics. Throughout his extensive career, Eric Clapton has played a variety of instruments, including a Gibson Les Paul, a Gibson SG, a Gibson ES-335, and, of course, a Fender Stratocaster. So it goes without saying that Slowhand needs a guitar that can cover a lot of sonic ground.

Fender has obliged with an amazing amount of sonic versatility in a single guitar. For starters, there's an active mid-boost control (powered by a 9-volt battery).

When you add this mid-boost control to the Fender Noiseless pickups and the master TBX control, you've got a guitar than is a six-string chameleon, capable of emulating a wide variety of useful, tasteful guitar tones. Honestly, the Clapton Strat might be the most versatile guitar we've had the good fortune of playing.

Aside from the sounds, the Clapton model has a comfortable playability that few instruments achieve. We can thank the V-shaped neck and 9.5" fingerboard radius for that. The back of the neck is incredibly smooth and lends itself to easy bends and fast runs with no effort.

We have to be forthright and say that this guitar is also one of the best playing guitars we've ever reviewed. It's really that good.

That's not to say we wouldn't have some suggestions should Mr. Clapton ask our opinion. While the vintage-style tuners add an air of old-school appeal to the model, we think that locking tuners would be a more appropriate choice for such a modern guitar.

In October, the owner of the New Orleans VooDoo announced that the team would cease operations"despite being one of the league leaders in attendance. In announcing that the team would fold, owner Tom Benson (who also owns the NFL Saints) suggested that the end of the five year old franchise was in no way an indictment of the New Orleans market.

With a dispersal draft planned to reassign the VooDoo personnel, uncertainty began to reign over the leagues future. The dispersal draft was scheduled and postponed several times amid assurances from the AFL office that rumors of financial instability were unfounded. The most recent announcement finally put all of the speculation to rest.

The inability to get any consensus on a business model for the league reportedly served as the final nail in the AFLs coffin. How To Play Hammer On's And Pull Off's On Your Guitar

In this article we are going to learn how to play hammer on's and pull off's.

If you recall in the last mini guitar lesson I showed you how to move the pentatonic pattern 1 round the neck. In this article we will expand on that to bring a technique called the "hammer on".

Let's take pattern 1 at the 5th fret (Am) as an example.

OK, to play the "hammer on" you need to hold down the 6th string at the 5th fret and then pluck it. Then bring down your 4th finger hard onto the 8th fret with enough force to allow the string to ring out as though you had plucked it!

You need to practice playing this on all the strings in the scale pattern... and it is known as "hammering on"!!!

You now need to build up your speed and over time you will find that you will be able to play the "hammer on" effortlessly playing notes quickly without having to pluck each string individually. Practicing this technique will speed up your overall paying ability...

To practice, try to play your guitar EVERY day, play every day even if it is only for a few minutes it is better than not picking it up at all. Eventually your fingers will become on autopilot without you realizing...

To add to the "hammer on" we will now have a go at a technique called the "pull off" and is the next killer technique you must try to master on your road to becoming a great player!

So to start off we will use pattern one at the 5th fret (Am). Now hold down the 8th fret with your 4th finger and also the 5th fret with your first finger on the 6th string.

Now pick the string sounding the note at the 8th fret (C)

Now here's the clever bit : whilst the note is still ringing flick the string with your 4th finger (pull off) to sound the note at the 5th fret (A). Do not use your pick at all!

Practice this technique on all the strings up and down the pentatonic pattern 1.

Using "hammer on's" and "pull off"s" is a much used feature in great sounding solos.

You need to practice these techniques over and over until your fingers start to bleed! Only joking!

Southern California's Del Mar Racetrack has been is often overshadowed by East Coast venues like Churchill Downs and Belmont Park. The reality is that the 72 year old track has a history to rival their better known counterparts that includes the greatest horses and jockeys in the sport, as well as a healthy dose of show biz glitz. Operated by the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and located 20 miles North of San Diego, its perhaps most famous for its iconic slogan: "Where The Surf Meets the Turf."

The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club was founded by a group of well heeled enthusiasts in the mid'30s, and they immediately turned their attention to building a world class horse racing venue. The names that were instrumental in the creation of Del Mar include a whos who of American entertainment--most notably Bing Crosby, Oliver Hardy (of Laurel and Hardy) and Jimmy Durante. At the time the facility opened thoroughbred horse racing was the second most popular sport in America behind major league baseball, and Del Mar quickly gained a reputation for being a player in the industry.

The show biz legends that have been Del Mar regulars could fill a book. Bing Crosby was one of catalysts behind the building of the facility, and he personally greeted guests on opening day. During the late 30's/early 40's it hosted stars such as W.C. Fields, Edgar Bergen, Red Skelton, Ava Gardner and Paulette Goddard.

Del Mar was the site of the'38 match race between Seabiscuit and Ligaroti. Seabiscut won the $25,000 winner take all challenge by a nose, and this race set Del Mar betting and attendance records and remains one of the most famous races in history. The racing at Del Mar continued to flourish until the start of WWII, when the track went 'dark' for racing. It was used at times by the military for, among other things, a training ground for Marines and later a production facility for bomber parts.

After the war Del Mar didn't miss a beat, and reopened the day after Japan surrendered to Allied Forces in Tokyo Bay. That day drew over 21,000 fans to the park and set a new wagering record of over $950,000. The track flourished during the post war economic boom years, and improved transportation between the major urban centers in Southern California--along with a new crop of stars including Mickey Rooney, Jimmy Durante and Desi Arnez, Jr.--kept the track in the limelight.

Del Mar remains a viable part of the thoroughbred community to this day. Theyve updated their facility, with a state of the art grand stand and most recently a synthetic polytrack surface that was installed in 2007. The racing season at Del Mar begins in mid July, and hosts crowds of 20,000+ on a daily basis throughout.
