Batman costumes and how they evolved

When you ask a child which superhero they would most like to be you can guarantee that Batman would be a popular answer. The chant of 'Dinner, dinner, dinner, dinner-BATMAN!' is synonymous with children's playgrounds everywhere. Most children (and a great deal of adults as well!) would get a real kick out of dressing up in Batman costumes. You can rest assured that anyone turning up at fancy-dress parties wearing Batman costumes would be hard pushed to find many people that asked who they were supposed to be.
Batman was originally called The Bat Man. He started in 1939 and through continual input and changes to his appearances in media, has established himself as one of the most easily recognised super heroes.
The cusccess he has generated covers films and television where he appeared as a Adam West, a wealthy industrialist. His time span covers almost 6 decades.
Batman costumes have remained much the same. There has always been the dark and mysterious side to Batman and the nineteen-eighties saw a return to this darker image with a shift in style evident in his comics and the Tim Burton movie.
Although our hero is not blessed with any strange or mystical powers like most of his counter- parts his life is still very much full of action and adventure. Like most superheroes Batman has a rather drab alter-ego (in this case it is Bruce Wayne) and a trusty side-kick known simply as Robin.
It is certainly an achievement that Batman has gained cult followoing as have his adversaries the joker and the riddler. Because of his longevity, grandfathers, fathers and sons have, at some time regarded him as their hero.
Merchandise rights to the character have also grown and today you will find a huge range of toys and costumes all under his name. So as the character continues do all the associated commercial aspects.
What a great choice of character Batman makes for presenting a youngster today with a costume for a party or birthday gift. The accessories also cover things like eye masks, cloaks and tights, to name a few. How far you want to go depends on your budget but you could end up looking exactly like Christian Bale in the Batman movie.
