All Praise to the Mullet

Despite the mullet being a social faux pas these days, it is making a speeding comeback these days... either that or there are some very unfashionable people in high places. Remember back to the days when mullets were all the rage and that madness in the back was envied above all else. Remember, that is, if you were conscious in the 80's
The south has always been known for its stubbornness. They were stubborn in the 1860's and they are just as stubborn or more so now when it comes to something so precious as hair, and on top of that something so precious as the mullet. It comes as a shock then when we hear of celebrities taking their fashion cues from a people so often thought of as backward and out of touch with high society. Backward is the new forward.
I believe it nearly impossible but a few of you may not actually know what this fabled hairstyle looks like. The catch phrase you must know to be accepted in any mullet circle is "business in the front, party in the back." Think about it. Imagine the sharpest MBA you can: clean suit, perfect white teeth and short, nicely parted hair. Now imagine a grungy hobo, sloppy rocker or high hippie. You put the two together keeping Mr. MBA in the front and high hippie in the back.
Thus the previously mentioned catch phrase was used to describe this hairstyle. The front is always conservative, so you don't do much with it as far as styling. However, since the back is left to grow long and beautiful, there are gobs of options when it comes to styling.
Ponytails are a convenient option with the mullet. People with this style will many times braid the back of their hair as well. This is known as a rat tail. For such an aged style, it is extremely versatile when you stop to think about it.
Probably the best thing about the mullet is its low maintenance nature. You don't have to do much with it. Some gel, a ponytail, a little braiding, and you are ready for the admiration of the masses!
As you can see there are many benefits that come with sporting the mullet. And in these drastic economic times people are searching for something that is not only cheap but powerful too. Folks, the mullet is coming back.
